Luxor - A visit by Egyptian Dreams

Day Two

I'd had a really bad night with my illness. Sabine got up early to go to breakfast but I declined. Still feeling rotten I decided to stay in bed and try and catch up on some of the sleep I'd lost during the night. Great holiday so far!

A couple of hours passed and I awoke to Sabine knocking on the door. She had met another hotel guest at breakfast and got talking about me being unwell. Knowing Luxor very well (she had been many times before) she took Sabine to a local chemist on a Calesh (horse drawn carriage) owned by an Egyptian she knew reasonably well.

The chemist had given Sabine a pack of four tablets which I had to take in one go to calm my stomach, and a course of antibiotics, of which I had to take two immediately. So, after taking my six tablets I decided it was about time I saw some of the Egyptian sun.

We went to the roof of the hotel which contained the swimming pool and a bar. We sat down and ordered some food (I thought I'd give it a go and see if I could keep it in).

After a light snack, Eileen came up for a chat (she was the one who had taken my wife to the chemist). We were supposed to go down to reception for 12:30pm for our "welcome meeting" with the holiday rep. but we forgot. Just as well as it turns out as he didn't turn up anyway!

After a couple of hours in the sun we went back to our room. I went back to bed and Sabine watched some t.v. In the evening we went down to the dining room and had some food. The pills I had taken had begun to work and that night I actually managed a reasonable night's sleep.

Day 2 was over and I still hadn't been outside the hotel!
