Our Visit To Luxor

Introduction

Egypt! With it's mysterious past, ancient wonders and religions, monuments and tombs, Egypt inspires the imagination and conjures up visions of a long lost age.

After building Egyptian Dreams up from scratch over the last four years, and in that time only managing to get one holiday to Turkey, I thought is was about time Sabine (my wife) and I visited the fabled land. As Egyptian Dreams is effectively a mail order company the only time we could spare was during the Christmas period when there was no post available.

After searching for deals on the Internet I finally found a package deal in Luxor for seven days, leaving Christmas Day and returning on New Years Day. As we were both fed up of years of the same old boring Christmas's in the UK we both were quite happy to go during this time.

I booked the holiday on Wednesday 20th December 2006 and we started counting down the days!

This is when the fates decided to play a cruel trick on me!

On Thursday 21st December 2006, at around 11:30pm I started to feel rather unwell, with uncontrolable shakes and my stomach making all manner of strange noises. I went to bed hoping to sleep off whatever I had contracted. No such luck. The next day I spent most of it in bed or on the toilet. Same on Saturday. Sunday (Christmas Eve), the day before we travelled, I started feeling quite a bit better. Thankfully it seemed the rest and Imodium had worked their magic (boy was I wrong!)
